Phased Levee Investigations

The presentation describes a phased approach using geophysical screening and in-situ testing to supplement conventional geotechnical soil borings and lab testing for Levee Investigations. The approach that is presented was developed during the Post-Katrina levee repairs in 2006 and then again applied to the Missouri River levee repairs after the 2011 flooding in Iowa. The presentation provides an overview of the various investigation methods, and also shows the correlation between the test results obtained with these methods.
