Who We Are

Deep Foundations Institute is an international association of contractors, engineers, manufacturers, suppliers, academics and owners in the deep foundations industry. Our multidisciplinary membership creates a consensus voice and a common vision for continual improvement in the planning, design and construction of deep foundations and excavation.

Deep Foundations Magazine

Deep Foundations is DFI’s flagship publication — created by the industry for the industry. The Deep Foundations audience includes contractors, civil and structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, owners, government agencies, manufacturers, suppliers and academics in the deep foundations industry. DFI Educational Trust

The Deep Foundations Institute Educational Trust is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2006 by the Deep Foundations Institute (an industry association) as its charitable arm. The mission of the Trust is to support and encourage individuals in the fields of study related to the deep foundations industry by providing scholarships, grants and opportunities to meet and work with deep foundations industry leaders.

DFI Journal

Advance your studies. The DFI Journal is an international peer-reviewed publication that supports authors whose research and practice covers a broad range of subjects on deep foundation engineering and construction. DFI members receive an online subscription to the Journal at no additional cost.

EFFC: European Federation of Foundation Contractors

The European Federation of Foundation Contractors works to promote the common interests of its members by improving the standard of workmanship, technical competence, safety and innovation for specialist foundation contractors across Europe. 

Task Groups

DFI and EFFC collaborate on areas of mutual interest through task and working groups related to concrete mixes, support fluids, working platforms and sustainability.

Committee Project Fund

The DFI Board of Trustees established the DFI Committee Project Fund in 2011 to fund DFI Technical Committee projects that advance the state of practice and understanding of deep foundations and produce a usable deliverable.
