DFI Elects New Members to Board of Trustees
Expands Board from 18-21 Members
DFI has elected the following new members to its Board of Trustees, and expanded the membership from 18-21 trustees to include DFI’s three regional chapter chairs.
Frank Haehnig, Dipl. Ing., leads the international ground engineering division within Zueblin Spezialtiefbau, Germany, and is also CEO for the North American operations. Since 2012 he has been the chair of DFI Europe. A graduate of the University of Stuttgart in Germany, he has worked for 25 years as a civil engineer focused on complex ground engineering projects, innovative solutions and an integrated design approach.
Khaldoun Fahoum, Ph.D., P.E., is a vice president and the Middle East regional manager for Langan International in Dubai, UAE. Dr. Fahoum also serves as the chair for DFI Middle East. Dr. Fahoum’s contributions to major engineering projects in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the United States extends over 20 years. He obtained his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Damascus University, Syria; Masters Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) from The Catholic University of America in the U.S.; and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) from the University of Maryland.
Dr. K.S. Rama Krishna, is chair of DFI of India, and actively promotes professional practices in foundation engineering in India. He recently retired as chief engineer-technology at L&T GeoStructure. He has more than 35 years of experience in the research and design of special foundations and geotechnical projects for land, near shore and offshore based structures. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the Government College of Engineering, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India, and his Master’s and Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
Gerry Houlahan, P.E., leads Moffatt and Nichol’s deep foundations, offshore platform and wind structure groups from the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from Monash University in Australia and has over 40 years of experience in design and construction of offshore platforms, bridges and towers, often in earthquake zones. Before being elected to the board, he was chair of DFI’s Marine Foundations Committee.
Marine Lasne is corporate sustainability manager of Soletanche Freyssinet in France. She is responsible for developing and coordinating the Soletanche Freyssinet Group sustainability strategy, as well as producing dedicated operational tools. In 2011, she was designated by the EFFC to lead the task force in charge of developing a European Carbon Calculator, a project supported jointly by the EFFC and DFI. She has a civil engineering degree and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management and Engineering. Before joining the board, she was chair of DFI’s Sustainability Committee.
J. Erik Loehr, P.E., is the director of research and an associate professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Missouri. His research includes deep foundations for slope stabilization and Load and Resistance Factor Design (LFD). Loehr earned his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas. He was chair of DFI’s Committee on Deep Foundations for Landslides/Slope Stabilization before becoming a trustee.
The Executive Committee of the DFI Board of Trustees has also changed. Patrick Bermingham (Bermingham Foundation Solutions) has moved from vice president to trustee. The new vice president is John Wolosick (Hayward Baker), who had been treasurer. The new treasurer is Dan Brown (Dan Brown & Associates), who had been a trustee.
