DFI to Host Six Technical Seminars

Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) is hosting four technical seminars in August, September and October.

August 5-6: DFI’s Seismic and Lateral Loads Committee is hosting a specialty seminar at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott in Los Angeles, Calif., on Practical Deep Foundation Design and Construction for Seismic and Lateral Loads. Industry leaders will overview the design approaches and challenges of seismic and lateral load design, address performance-based design for foundations in liquefiable and non-liquefiable soils, discuss practical soil-structure interaction solutions, and present case histories that highlight the use of conventional software packages and emphasize constructability issues for deep foundations subject to lateral and seismic loads.

September 9-10: DFI’s Helical Piles and Tiebacks Committee is hosting a seminar on Helical Pile Usage for Disaster Relief at the Newark-Liberty International Airport Marriott in Newark, N.J. Presentations on the proper design, application and installation of helical piles for disaster relief will be featured as well as topics specific to the damage sustained from Hurricane Sandy.

September 15-16: DFI and ADSC are hosting a joint Micropile & Anchored Earth Retention Design and Construction seminar on at the Saddle Brook Marriott in Saddle Brook, N.J. The two-day event features technical presentations, exhibits of products and services, and a networking reception.

September 18: DFI and the Connecticut Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) are hosting the 18th Annual Geotechnical Seminar on at the Four Points by Sheraton in Meriden, Conn.

September 28-29 and October 1-2: DFI is hosting two NHI Micropile Design and Construction Courses (NHI #132078). Allen Cadden, P.E., D.GE, Schnabel Engineering, Donald Bruce, Ph.D., D.GE, Geosystems, and Jesús Gómez, Ph.D., P.E., D.GE, GEI Consultants – recognized leaders in micropile technology and certified NHI instructors – will present the courses. Cadden and Bruce will co-instruct the two-day course on September 28-29, at the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 4 office in Davie, Fla.
