Technical Program Available for SuperPile ’16 Conference
June 7-9 in Chicago
The complete technical program for SuperPile ’16 is available online at www.dfi-superpile.org. The conference, hosted by DFI in partnership with ADSC, is being held on June 7-9, 2016, at the Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago.
Pre-conference activities on Tuesday, June 7, include DFI Technical Committee and Working Group meetings, a complimentary tour of the Atlas Pipe Pile Plant, and the DFI Women in Deep Foundations Committee Boat Tour and Reception fundraiser, highlighting the architectural, geotechnical and structural aspects of historic Chicago buildings.
The Plenary Session on Wednesday, June 8, features 10 presentations on advancements, innovations and challenges in design and construction of deep foundations, particularly related to piling solutions. The session opens with the DFI 2016 Osterberg Memorial Lecture, “Lessons Learned from Dr. Jorj O. Osterberg and His Inventions,” presented by Dr. David K. Crapps, of GPE, Inc. and David K. Crapps, Inc., and founding owner of Schmertmann & Crapps. Additionally a presentation by the Traylor-Massman-Weeks Joint Venture, winners of the Ben C. Gerwick Award for Innovation in the Design and Construction of Marine Foundations is included at the June 8 luncheon. The development and successful implementation of an Assembly Line Construction Approach for construction of the IHNC Storm Surge Barrier for City of New Orleans is the winning innovation and the subject of the luncheon lecture.
Parallel Sessions on Thursday, June 9 provide attendees the option to choose presentations of interest.
Parallel Session A includes 12 presentations on augered cast-in-place/drilled displacement piles, seismic and lateral loads, and testing and evaluation of deep foundation systems. Parallel Session B includes 12 presentations focused on driven piles and helical piles and tiebacks. The conference concludes with a final plenary session covering rock-socketed piles, auger cast piles, driven pipe piles and load testing of drilled shafts.
Equipment, material and instrumentation suppliers, contractors, engineers and other vendors will exhibit their products and services during the three-day event.
