The Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) is hosting a Helical Piles and Tiebacks Specialty Seminar on August 10-12, 2016, at the Ontario Airport Hotel, Ontario, Calif., outside of Los Angeles.
The first day of the technical program, August 11, focuses on helical piles and anchors in seismic and lateral load conditions. Presentations provide an overview of the fundamentals of design and installation of helical piles and helical tiebacks with topics specific to seismic and lateral loading, materials, and construction and testing procedures. Other topics include building codes related to the design of helical pile elements; case studies on the design and use of helical piles systems and helical tiebacks on new and retrofitted projects; helical pile and helical tieback performance studies; advancements and innovations in design, construction and equipment for helical piles and tiebacks; quality control and inspection; and practice-oriented research.
The second day of the seminar, August 12, features a demonstration of installation and testing of helical piles at JRW Foundation Systems in Redlands, Calif.
The seminar is preceded on August 10 by a meeting of the DFI Helical Piles and Tiebacks Committee, which is open to everyone interested in attending. Equipment, material and instrumentation suppliers; contractors; engineers; and other vendors will set-up that day and exhibit their services during the seminar.
