DFI Annual Paper Competitions: Call for Papers Open
DFI announces that the Call for Papers is open for the annual Student Paper Competition and Young Professor Paper Competition. Abstracts are due on Friday, March 10. The winners are invited to attend DFI’s 42nd Annual Conference on Deep Foundations, October 24-27 in New Orleans to present their papers. Winners also receive free conference registration, two nights of lodging and a $750 stipend for travel expenses. Both the winner and first runner-up will have their papers published in the conference proceedings and receive a library of up to 20 DFI Publications and a gratis two-year DFI Individual Membership.
The criteria for students entering this competition are as follows
- Student must be enrolled in an accredited college or university in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Focus of study must be engineering/construction/geological sciences.
- Paper must be based on student’s own work, and in her/his own writing.
- Paper must be primarily concerned with the design and construction of deep foundations/excavations.
The criteria for young professors entering this competition are as follows:
- Paper must be primarily concerned with the design and construction of deep foundations/excavations.
- The candidate professor should be a full time entry-level member of the faculty of an accredited college or university, engaged in teaching and/or research in any of the professional fields including engineering/construction/geological sciences.
- Paper must be based on the professor’s own work, and may include contributions from the professor’s research.
