Registration is now open for SuperPile ’19 taking place May 1-3 at the Sheraton Grand Seattle, Washington. This three-day event includes presentations on the latest developments in augered cast-in-place/drilled displacement piles, drilled shafts, driven piles, ground improvement, helical piles and tiebacks, marine foundations, micropiles, testing and evaluation of foundation systems, and seismic and lateral loads. Approximately 75 abstracts were collected covering the topics mentioned above as well as:

  • Innovations and advancements in pile design and installation
  • Corrosion of buried structures
  • Designing and constructing safely and effectively in urban environments
  • Instrumentation, load testing, monitoring
  • Designing for resiliency under extreme or unexpected loading conditions (inclement weather, tsunami, flooding, seismic, liquefaction, lateral spreading)
  • Sensitivity during construction in various types of aquatic environments
  • Trends in design and construction methods for highway infrastructure projects
  • Foundation optimization through risk management (geotechnical, contractual, communication risks)
  • Sustainable design approaches to address economic and ecological impacts

The conference kick-offs on May 1 with technical committee meetings as well as a networking event hosted by DFI’s Women in Deep Foundations Committee. Conference Day One (May 2) features invited speakers as well as the annual Osterberg Lecture and presentation of the Ben C. Gerwick Award for Innovation in the Design and Construction of Marine Foundations in a plenary session, and Day Two (May 3) has concurrent sessions providing attendees the option to choose presentations of interest. A panel discussion on industry-owner collaboration on Day One will also be broadcast with the Osterberg Lecture as a free webinar for those who cannot be in Seattle, while a panel discussion on testing methods will close the event on Day Two. Both discussion sessions provide attendees opportunities to share new ideas and industry experience. Equipment, material and instrumentation suppliers, contractors, engineers, and other vendors are presenting their services in the exhibit hall.
