Three students at City College of New York (CCNY) have received scholarship awards from the DFI Educational Trust Stanley Merjan Civil Engineering Scholarship Fund.
Adeel Butt is a senior civil engineering student with a specialization in structures. He is currently an intern at Perfetto Contracting, preparing daily field activities, four week look ahead schedules, quantity take offs, and contacting subs and vendors to purchase material. Following graduation, he plans to work for a general contractor as a field engineer or design engineer, obtain his Professional Engineering license, and enroll in a master’s program in construction management.
Yingjian Chen is a senior civil engineering student interested in structural design and construction. He has worked as an assistant for a general contractor and as a drafter for an architect. He is a member of the Concrete Canoe Club and the Steel Bridge Club, Chen enjoys every moment working in this field because he believes that if he can find a job he likes, he will never work a day in his life.
Ethan Chiu is a third-year civil engineering student concentrating on structures. He has worked on transportation infrastructure projects as an intern for NV5 and on bridge rehabilitation projects as an intern for Thornton Tomasetti. He is a member of the Concrete Canoe Club and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He pursued civil engineering in order to help create a better society.
