DFI Announces 2019 Osterberg Memorial Lecturer
Presentation at SuperPile ’19 in Seattle

Samuel Paikowsky, Ph.D., Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Massachusetts Lowell and president of GeoDynamica, is presenting the DFI 2019 Osterberg Memorial Lecture during the opening plenary session at SuperPile ’19 on Thursday, May 2 , 10:45 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The presentation is also being broadcast as a live webinar. SuperPile ’19 is being held at the Sheraton Grand Seattle, Washington state from May 1-3. 

The lecture, “Capacity Testing of Deep Foundations: Successes and Pitfalls,” evaluates the various methods of capacity testing for their contributions, place in the profession and shortcomings. 

Dr.  Paikowsky has close to 40 years of experience in geotechnical related consulting, research and engineering projects. He is an internationally renowned expert in the field of deep foundations, reliability-based design instrumentation, testing and analysis, and has been involved in projects worldwide.

Dr. Paikowsky holds a B.S. in civil engineering and an M.Sc. in geotechnical engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology and a Sc.D. in geotechnical engineering from MIT. 

The annual Osterberg Memorial Lecture and Award was established in honor of Dr. Jorj O. Osterberg to recognize innovations in deep foundations construction related to engineering design, testing or education.
