2020-2021 Traveling Lecturer Hosted by Geo-Institute Kansas City & San Antonio Chapters
April 28, 2021 – Online
On April 28th at 12:40 PM Central, David Paul, P.E. will present his lecture “40 Years of Dam & Levee Safety in the U.S.”
The failure of the Teton Dam in June 1976, prompted the U. S. government to enact dam safety legislation and a robust and active dam safety program to monitor the approximate 90,500 dams registered in the National Inventory of Dams (NID) maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Efforts are underway to establish a national levee safety program to monitor the approximate 150,000 miles of levees in the United States. This lecture reviews the positive impacts these programs have had on critical infrastructure.
