The 13th Annual DFI Educational Trust Gala Fundraising Dinner took place on November 8, 2018, at Terrace On The Park in Corona, N.Y. The gala was attended by more than 100 guests and raised over $25,000. Proceeds from the dinner benefit the George J. Tamaro Manhattan College Civil Engineering Scholarship Fund, established in 2016.
This year, four students at Manhattan College received awards from the Tamaro Scholarship Fund, totaling $10,000. The scholarships were presented by Zac Curanovic, P.E., Underpinning & Foundation Skanska, DFI Educational Trust board member and chair of the scholarship drive.
Daniel Forero is senior civil engineering student at Manhattan College. He is actively involved in extracurricular activity groups, such as DFI, ASCE and Engineering Ambassadors. His goal is to make use of his education, internship experiences and passion for the industry to contribute to the advancement of the built environment.
Lauren McManus is a senior civil engineering major with an environmental engineering minor at Manhattan College. She is the 2018-2019 president of the DFI Student Chapter at Manhattan College and a national member of Tau Beta Pi and Chi Epsilon.
Harpreet Singh is a civil engineering major at Manhattan College. Born in Gilzian, located in Punjab, India, he plans to pursue a career path that widens his horizon of experience in the field.
Tyler Sivulich is a civil engineering student at Manhattan College. His goal is to pursue a career involved in the construction industry. He recently interned with Schiavone Construction Co. as a field engineer on the $157 million Catskill Aqueduct Rehab and Rehabilitation Project.
