A method of sampling soil by augering a hole in the ground with a sampler or sample spoon attached to the end of the auger. The object is to obtain a complete undisturbed sample of the natural soil for analysis. Also call Core Borings.

Method of advancing a borehole whereby the drill rods and casing are inserted simultaneously by rotary or rotary-percussive technics. The drill cuttings / slurry return through the annulus between the rods and casing in order to minimize loss of ground.
