September 1, 2022, Hawthorne, N.J.: Jared Martinez, a master’s degree candidate at Portland State University, is the winner of the DFI Educational Trust Student Paper Competition. His focus is on geotechnical engineering, with research topics including seismic load combinations and liquefaction susceptibility of low plasticity silts. Martinez has more than 5 years of geotechnical consulting experience in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

August 18, 2022, Hawthorne, NJ: Three renowned experts are delivering keynote lectures at DFI’s 47th Annual Conference on Deep Foundations, being held October 4-7, 2022, in National Harbor, Maryland.

August 8, 2022, Hawthorne, N.J.: DFI Educational Trust has awarded six Women in Deep Foundations (WiDF) Professional Development Grants of $1,750 each to women working in the deep foundations industry. The recipients are invited to attend DFI’s 47th Annual Conference in National Harbor, Maryland, October 4-7. The grant includes complimentary conference registration and covers related expenses for attending the conference.

August 4, 2022, Hawthorne, N.J.: The DFI Educational Trust awarded $195,750 in scholarships this spring, which is the largest amount ever provided by the Trust during the spring round of applications. More scholarships will be awarded in the fall, thanks to the generosity of many donors and fundraising event participants and sponsors.

The lecture is being presented by the DFI Women in Deep Foundations (WiDF) Committee.

(July 19, 2022):  Registration is open for the 6th International Conference on Grouting and Deep Mixing, being held January 15-18, 2023, in New Orleans, Louisiana. This conference, initially planned for 2022, is being presented by Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) and the International Conference Organization for Grouting (ICOG), with support from Geo-Institute’s Grouting Committee.

July 7, 2022, Hawthorne, N.J.: Jerry A. DiMaggio, P.E., D.GE, M.ASCE, senior principal engineer − associate at Applied Research Associates (ARA), is the recipient of DFI’s highest award bestowed to an individual, the Distinguished Service Award (DSA). This award recognizes individuals who have made exceptionally valuable contributions to the advancement of the deep foundations industry. The award is being presented at the Awards Banquet during DFI’s 47th Annual Conference on Deep Foundations, October 4-7 in National Harbor, Maryland.
