#GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving. The DFI Educational Trust joined the movement once again on December 3 in hope that with your support, additional funds would be raised to help civil engineering students achieve their educational dreams.

DFI’s Middle East Chapter sponsored a one-day educational seminar at The Big 5 Heavy International Building and Construction Show from 11:30 – 16:30 covering important topics to the geotechnical industry. Attendance to the seminar was free of charge and civil engineers from consulting and contracting firms, as well as material/equipment manufacturers/suppliers, were encouraged to attend.

DFI’s Women in Deep Foundations (WiDF) Committee hosted a Metro NYC event on Wednesday, November 20 at Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers, 225 W 34th Street. The event featured a panel discussion on the impact of mentorship for women in the industry.

Presentations highlighted the latest and appropriate geo-technologies, contract and project management procedures, work methods, latest equipment and tools, and the skill development programs needed in India. This conference was preceded by a technical workshop on a relevant foundation theme on November 14, 2019.

The DFI Educational Trust’s Annual Gala Dinner brings together individuals and companies who are committed to supporting our efforts to help young students discover the rewards of a career in the deep foundations industry.

This lecture examined the development and evolution of cast-in-place piles in the United States and Europe and described current industry equipment and installation practice. Conventional continuous flight auger (CFA) and drilled displacement piles were addressed.

The DFI Educational Trust hosted the annual golf outing fundraiser at the Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton, California. Proceeds from the outing fund scholarships for students studying toward careers in the deep foundations, engineering and construction industries.
